been a good one and a half months since previous blog entry. can only coin it "writing fatigue"

much has happened in between, some petty tussles, most joyous causes for celebration. been awarded the sph scholarship, finally! after months of agonizing deliberations and self-doubt. i'm not entirely sure if i deserve the mightier-than-thou accolade of a 'scholar' - there are scores of people who'd fit the bill of the eloquent, inquiring hobnobbing journo much more elegantly. that i managed to snag a dream job, complete with complimentary university education despite my often bumbling self and occasional embarrassing gaffe, is perhaps a testament to the opportunities kindly bestowed by higher-ups one month prior to crucial interview #2. and this i give myself due credit for - a perpetual hunger for something greater, and never bowing down to petty callousness and indifference.

i love my job, and even if it were just rosy, clouded idealism in the eyes of hardened cynics, i don't intend to rein in the open gushing just yet. i love the creative licence i'm allowed, to pursue my stories that run the gamut from the utterly frivolous (still in the works) to the tragically boring (i'm sure you can spot some) to the balancing acts that occasionally veer beyond the OB markers (will post them here, post-internship). i know, i know, i whine only too often about ideas drying up, but when a crazy new idea emerges, i am reinvigorated. and always determined to do something decent.

i hope my passion doesn't fizzle when i return from my studies, in the cliched here! see, this is the real world! fashion. (not as if my internship stint has been a bed of PR roses, anyway)i NEED a sense of purpose to not feel like life's a drone. two years of NS wasted enough mental faculties. i need to write and produce material to not feel talentless and vacuous.

i may not be the most opinionated person to have around, or even stoic and proper enough, for professionalism sake. but in between unprofessional 'lah's and stuttering sentences uttered to PRs via telephone calls, i do actually think i want to hone my craft and better myself - by first and foremost, getting over the mental obstacle that is my 16YO lookalike face and awkwardly intonated telephone voice.

not so guilty pleasure: sodagreen's new album 春。

guilty pleasure: s factor bitchfest on channel 5

bikini, bitching and bimbos galore on s factor. this unpretentiously shallow 'reality show' has been the source of my comic relief for the past 8 weeks. never mind the oh-so-serious moralists concerned about woman demeaning themselves on national TV. sure, there are the usual no brainer comments made doubly stupid and mortifying through evil editing, but for every giggling bimbo that is xue sha there is holly the eloquent english teacher. a smouldering yet thinking kaykay compensates for every glaringly local pronunciation gaffe sherine and kris commit. when thinking women the likes of those two consciously decide to bare and titillate, and people lap it all up, i'm not too sure if they are the ones at the mercy of lecherous, libidious men. more like the other way round.

anyway who cares? if all else fails, just sit back and soak yourself into the frivolity of a 'debate' over brain vs beauty, where intelligent sample arguments put forth include: "you can always go for a plastic surgery, but you can't ask your doctor to give you a new brain" enjoy:
