The Republic Cultural Centre Main Auditorium

widens, rolls and freezes eyeballs in sheer ecstasy mixed with disbelief. christina and sodagreen both making rare-as-hell appearances in singapore within a span of two freakin months! my heart is so, thumping with excitement. HA. this is good enough news to make me momentarily forget that i'll be embarking on splendid 3d2n lim chu kang outfield extravaganzas for the next three consecutive weeks.

let the giggly fanaticism begin all over again!

this is so surreal, it's C-R-A-Z-Y

Christina Aguilera Back To Basics Tour
30 June 2007, 8pm
Singapore Indoor Stadium
$98, $148, $188, $228, $348

GOTTA MAKE AN INSANELY IRRATIONAL MAD DASH FOR THE $348 ONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and ns had better not screw my mighty plans up.

or i'll just commit suicide by shooting myself with a SAR21 come next live firing which incidentally falls on a very sacred 2nd of June, a supposed bright and cheery book-out day. (i still constantly ponder what i could have possibly done wrong in my past life) i promise.

it's really hard to stay atop the moral high ground, not waver, or basically just stick to following your heart when someone else seems so hell-bent on dangling that glamarous piece of carrot right in front of you. it's the sort of thing that brings the inner pragmatist out of even the most delusional of idealists. so a menacing looking slippery slope now stands tall between my very undecided self and my life 5 years down the road. and what am i to do? jump on the bandwagon, gleefully slide down the slope, and land myself in the cesspool of a classroom 4 years later? or would it be better to nonchalantly flip off the dangling carrot, and proceed to convince myself that the noblest thing to do in this pragmatic world would be to... aww, stay true to your heart!..? i think i need some divine intervention here. biased school rebels who curse their school teachers for a living need not apply.

every step that i take from this moment onwards, however small, is going to be life changing. it's been a whirlwind of choices, choices, more dizzying choices. the balding economists probably got it right - as much as consumers covet variety, an excess of choices can only serve to disorientate and misguide. and for once, the uncertainty/variability of the future is truly giving me the creepy shudders.

then again, it somewhat sounds a tad illogical to hold choices responsible for personal insecurity. after all, it might be the good ol' (or bad ol') trademark lzt inhibition at work. the sheer inability to stand up in the face of the unfamiliar; the gentle yet definite reluctance to trade up comfort and security for risk and adventure - do i sound like my passion for journalism has been somewhat doused? in any case it isn't, it's just that everyone has to learn to face up to their inner mommy's boy once in a while. haha.(speaking of which, it's mother's day today! happy mama's day my dear mama!)

i think there'll never come a day where i'll gladly release myself from the clutches of my insecurities to pursue whatever i desire without constantly pondering about the why-nots and the what-ifs. hey, rootedness sounds like a desirable enough trait too, right?

why?

anyway, risking vehement opposals by alybo and poo yee, i must say that summer palace is a pretty decent flick. i don't think it needs to be marketed as "CHINA'S MOST CONTROVERSIAL FILM TO DATE" to sell. (then again, ok, MAYBE). but what attracted me was the female lead's fierce, aggressive conviction that made the some of the explicit scenes more thought provoking than (s)exploitative.

off to another week at camp, till then.
